Director’s address, Faith and Order Meeting, 27 November 2023

It is often said that “Bad news travels fast.” Indeed, it is hard not to be focused on the difficulties and harsh challenges we are facing in today’s world. In a digital village that we live in, where every piece of news is spread quickly, the worst news takes center stage. “We live in a time of profound crisis”, “The world is as disunited as ever”, “Society is polarized!” are just some of the everyday remarks describing the present condition.

Faith, Science, and Climate: WCC and LWF host dialogue with IPCC expert

The World Council of Churches (WCC) and the Lutheran World Federation (LWF) came together for a dialogue titled "Encountering Faith and Science." The session featured Ramon Pichs-Madruga, one of the three vice-chairs of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), sharing key insights from the IPCC's Sixth Assessment Report.

On 20 November 2023, Rev. Dr Martin Hirzel, Director External Relations of the Protestant Church in Switzerland, Mr Damian Kessi, External Relations officer, Ms Marion Wittine, Assistant to the Director External Relations and Mr David Zaugg, Senior Officer for Public Affairs and Migration visited the WCC. They met with Ms Marianne Ejdersten, WCC Director of Communication and Mr Doug Chial, Director of the WCC Office of the General Secretariat.

Protestant Church in Switzerland finds inspiration in visit to WCC

A delegation from the Protestant Church in Switzerland visited the World Council of Churches (WCC) on 20 November. The delegation included Rev. Dr Martin Hirzel, director of External Relations; Damian Kessi, External Relations officer; Marion Wittine, assistant to the director of External Relations; and David Zaugg, senior officer for Public Affairs and Migration.
