The World Council of Churches (WCC) executive committee visited the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’adu Abubakar III in Abuja, Nigeria. As Sultan of Sokoto, he is considered the spiritual leader of Nigeria's 100 million Muslims.

In a press conference on 14 November in Abuja, Nigeria, the World Council of Churches (WCC) leadership of the central committee highlighted the WCC’s focus on some of the world’s most serious challenges, and how the WCC brings hope.

A new book, "Ahead of Her Time: Pan-African Women of Faith and the Vision of Christian Unity, Mission, and Justice,” authored by World Council of Churches (WCC) president from North America Rev. Dr Angelique Walker-Smith, debuted on 1 November, All Saints Day, during an online and in-person reception and awards ceremony of pan-African women of faith represented in the book. The event took place at Bread for the World (USA) in Washington, DC.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) executive committee will meet 8-14 November in Abuja, Nigeria to approve plans and budget for 2024, and to further develop the Pilgrimage of Justice, Reconciliation, and Unity.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) Commission on World Mission and Evangelism began meeting online in October, rooted in the vision of the Arusha Call to Transforming Discipleship. The commission, constituted by the WCC central committee in June, is convening with the understanding that discipleship is both an individual and community calling.
