Churches in Canada welcomed World Council of Churches (WCC) general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay for an ecumenical partners visit to Canada that took place 7-9 December. 

During a visit to Canada, World Council of Churches general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay shared an address on 5 December in Toronto commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Canadian Council of Churches. 

World Council of Churches (WCC) general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay will visit Canada from 4-9 December, a visit during which he will commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Canadian Council of Churches, as well as meet with member churches and ecumenical organizations in Canada.

With great sadness, the United Church of Canada announced the death of Rev. Dr Lois M. Wilson, the denomination’s 28th  moderator, and the first woman to fill the role. She faithfully served as moderator from 1980 to 1982. Wilson died in hospital in Fredericton, NB, on 13 September. She was 97 years old.

On 20 September, from 14:30 to 16:00 at the World Council of Churches (WCC) in Geneva, the WCC Ecumenical Water Network will host a special dialogue with the UN special rapporteur for Human Right to Water, Prof. Pedro Arrojo-Agudo.

Rev. Lynda Susan Katsuno died on 28 August at age 72 after a yearlong struggle with cancer. She was a pioneer of what is now the Ecumenical Disability Advocates Network. 

The Canadian Council of Churches will host a 5-week online course, “Navigating Faith and Genetics,” that will run Wednesday evenings from 5 June to 3 July.
