New online collection of ecumenical statements on bioethics and biotechnology

A new online collection of church and ecumenical statements on bioethics and biotechnology has been launched by the global ethics network Globethics.net, developed in collaboration with the World Council of Churches. The collection contains more than 250 documents from ecumenical organizations, and Orthodox, Protestant and Roman Catholic traditions.

Church of Greece's head to visit the World Council of Churches

Archbishop Christodoulos of Athens and all Greece, primate of the 10-million-strong (Orthodox) Church of Greece, will visit the World Council of Churches (WCC) from 28 May - 1 June. During his stay, Christodoulos will also meet the UN high commissioner for refugees, members of the Swiss Federal Council and of the Geneva Council of State, and the mayor of Geneva. WCC general secretary looks forward "with enthusiasm and caution" to a visit to churches in Greece

The evolution and the work of the Special Commission on Orthodox participation in the World Council of Churches (WCC) as well as current social, political and ecumenical challenges - such as inter-church relations, the question of bioethics and the role of Greece as the only Orthodox country in the European Union - will be amongst the issues addressed during WCC general secretary Konrad Raiser's visit to the Church of Greece, 20 - 24 March.
