Bischof Heinrich Bedford-Strohm, Vorsitzender des Rates der Evangelischen Kirche in Deutschland, und Kardinal Reinhard Marx, Erzbischof von München und Freising und ehemaliger Vorsitzender der Deutschen Bischofskonferenz (DBK), haben den Augsburger Friedenspreis 2020 für ihren „unbedingten Wille zu einem friedvollen Miteinander“ erhalten.
Bishop Heinrich Bedford-Strohm, chair of the council of the Evangelical Church in Germany, and Cardinal Reinhard Marx, Archbishop in Munich and former president of the German Bishops’ Conference, were awarded the 2020 Augsburg Peace Prize for their “unconditional will to live together in peace.”
The WCC continues to receive messages of thanksgiving and encouragement from member churches, sister organizations and the wider ecumenical movement as the fellowship marks 70 years in working for Christian unity and action.
World Council of Churches general secretary Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit congratulated Rev. Dr Martin Junge, general secretary of the Lutheran World Federation, for receiving the Augsburg Peace Prize on 20 October in Augsburg, Germany.
