In Japan, indigenous and ecumenical youth call for action against racism

Twenty-seven indigenous and ecumenical youths gathered together for a five-day World Council of Churches (WCC) event this week in Japan’s third-largest, western city of Osaka. Participants gathered under the theme, “WCC Continuing Formation on Youth and Racism Awareness in Asia & Indigenous Youth Pilgrimage of Justice and Peace.”

WCC continues to receive 70th anniversary greetings

The WCC continues to receive messages of thanksgiving and encouragement from member churches, sister organizations and the wider ecumenical movement as the fellowship marks 70 years in working for Christian unity and action.

Indigenous Global Ecumenical Gathering meets in Aotearoa New Zealand

Participants at the Indigenous Global Ecumenical Gathering observed the 70th anniversary of the WCC in Auckland, Aotearoa New Zealand on 22 July. In a sermon for the occasion, Rev. Prince Devanandan, president and ecumenical officer of the Methodist Church of New Zealand, said WCC helps churches unify yet remain diverse.

Living Letters visit to Australia completed

A World Council of Churches’ Living Letters team recently visited the Northern Territory of Australia visiting the communities of Galiwink’u, Mapuru, Wadeye, Hermannsburg, Amoonguna, Mount Nancy Town Camps.
