A delegation from the World Council of Churches (WCC) is joining the Ecumenical Network of South Sudan (ENSS) in a solidarity visit from 18-23 September to accompany and support the church leaders in South Sudan.

The World Council of Churches led a delegation on a visit to Sudan from 18-22 April. The ecumenical group included the World Council of Churches (WCC), All Africa Conference of Churches, ACT Alliance, Association of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa Global Ministries, Fellowship of Christian Councils and Churches in the Great Lakes and Horn of Africa, General Board Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church, and Norwegian Church Aid. 

Women and men gathered online on International Women’s Day with deep determination to find solutions to the scourge of femicide. A webinar on 8 March, entitled “End Femicide: Invest in Women’s Lives,” drew more than 100 people online. 

The World Council of Churches (WCC) is mourning the loss and celebrating the life of Rev. Dr Jose Belo Chipenda, an African theologian and ecumenical leader.

Chipenda passed away on 10 January in Canada at the age of 95. 

Church leaders are participating in a “Consultation on Ecumenical Approaches to Peace and Stability in West Africa” from 5-8 December in Togo. The gathering is being organized by the World Council of Churches (WCC) in collaboration with the Methodist Church of Togo and the All Africa Conference of Churches Regional Office in Lomé.

The All Africa Conference of Churches will convene its Twelfth General Assembly in Abuja, Nigeria, from 18-23 November under the theme “The Love of Christ Compels us…”
