This week marks World Toilet Day (19 November) which celebrates toilets and raises awareness of the 4.2 billion people living without access to safely managed sanitation. It is about taking action to tackle the global sanitation crisis and achieve Sustainable Development Goal 6: water and sanitation for all by 2030.

This week also marks World Children’s Day on 20 November.

As more people face famine today than any time in modern history, the World Council of Churches together with the All Africa Conference of Churches and a range of faith-based partners and networks invite a Global Day of Prayer to End Famine on 21 May 2017, in response to the hunger crisis.

This order of service was prepared by the worship committee of the Ecumenical Centre, Geneva for a prayer service held at the chapel of the Ecumenical Centre, 16 March 2011. It may be reproduced and adapted for parish use freely.
