A World Council of Churches and All Africa Conference of Churches Africa regional consultation on the Pilgrimage of Justice and Peace in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic

The WCC is hosting a webinar on Uprooting Identities or Planting Just Peace? on 2 December at 16.00 CET.

In five episodes held on the third Thursday of each month beginning in November, the webinars will explore the following themes: “Answering the Ancestral Call of Legacy and Leadership,” “The Healing in Our Lament,” “Hope: Unity Within Diversity,” “The Celebration in Transformation,” and “Resurrection: The Diakonia at Work in the World Today.”

The World Council of Churches (WCC) will remember the life and work of Rev. Prof. Dr Mary-Anne Plaatjies van Huffel with an online memorial service on 4 June at 4pm CET.

The thematic focus of the World Council of Churches (WCC) Pilgrimage of Justice and Peace (PJP) in 2019 is Racism.The WCC Commission of the Churches on International Affairs (CCIA), organises a series of eight WCC CCIA regional expert Webinars on the issue of racism and racial justice from August to December 2019. The aim of the webinars is to explore how racism manifests itself in the respective regions, learn about the work that churches and ecumenical partners are doing in this respect, identify synergies and avenues for possible collaboration.

Jahrhundert stammenden Nieuwe Kirk in Amsterdam, Niederlande werden die Führungskräfte des Ökumenischen Rates der Kirchen genau an dem Ort das 70-jährige Bestehen des ÖRK feiern, an dem die Organisation gegründet wurde. Ein „Spaziergang der Ruhe/Walk of Peace“ durch Amsterdam und ein Symposium mit dem Thema „Gastfreundschaft auf dem Pilgerweg zu Friede und Gerechtigkeit“ an der Vrije Universiteit finden ebenfalls am selben Tag statt.

During a 23 August service in the Netherlands in the Nieuwe Kerk, a 15th-century church in Amsterdam, World Council of Churches leaders will celebrate the WCC’s 70th anniversary at the very spot in which the organization was founded.  A “Walk of Peace” through Amsterdam, and a symposium under the theme “Hospitality on a pilgrim's way to peace and justice”, at the Vrije Universiteit, will also be held on the same day.

El 23 de agosto, durante un servicio de conmemoración en la Nieuwe Kerk, una iglesia del siglo XV de Ámsterdam (Países Bajos), los dirigentes del Consejo Mundial de Iglesias celebrarán el 70º aniversario del CMI exactamente en el mismo lugar donde se fundó la organización. Una marcha por la paz en Ámsterdam y un simposio bajo el tema “Hospitalidad en un camino de peregrinación hacia la paz y la justicia” en la Universidad de Vrije tendrán lugar ese mismo día.

On February 5, shortly after Konrad Raiser’s 80th birthday, ecumenical experts from different generations, confessions and continents will meet in Geneva to discuss the newest publication by the former general secretary of the World Council of Churches (WCC), titled The Challenge of Transformation: An Ecumenical Journey.

El 5 de febrero, poco después del 80º cumpleaños de Konrad Raiser, expertos ecuménicos de diferentes generaciones, confesiones y continentes se reunirán en Ginebra para hablar de la publicación más reciente del ex secretario general del CMI, titulada The Challenge of Transformation: An Ecumenical Journey (El desafío de la transformación: Un viaje ecuménico).

Le 5 février, peu après le quatre-vingtième anniversaire de Konrad Raiser, des experts œcuméniques représentant plusieurs générations, différentes confessions et différents continents se réuniront à Genève autour du dernier ouvrage de l’ancien secrétaire général du COE intitulé The Challenge of Transformation: An Ecumenical Journey.

Se esperan más de cien mil participantes de Alemania y otros lugares en el festival del Kirchentag. En muchas de las 2500 actividades del programa participan representantes de las iglesias miembros del CMI y sus dirigentes, entre ellos, la moderadora del Comité Central del CMI, Dra. Agnes Abuom; el secretario general del CMI, Rev. Dr. Olav Fykse Tveit; la presidenta del CMI para África, Rev. Dra. Mary-Anne Plaatjies van Huffel; y varios miembros del Comité Central del CMI.

Plus de 100'000 participantes et participants sont attendus au Kirchentag, un rassemblement créé par des laïcs protestants en Allemagne après la Seconde Guerre mondiale. More than 100'000 participants are expected at the Kirchentag festival organized by a Protestant lay movement in Germany. Among the 2500 events on the Kirchentag programme, many involve representatives of the WCC member churches and its leadership, including the moderator of the WCC Central Committee, Dr Agnes Abuom; WCC general secretary Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit; the WCC president for Africa, Rev. Dr Mary-Anne Plaatjies van Huffel; and various members of the WCC Central Committee.

El Comité Ejecutivo, integrado por 25 miembros de iglesias de cada región del mundo, tiene como moderadora a la Dra. Agnes Abuom. Se reúne dos veces al año para realizar el seguimiento del trabajo en curso, supervisar el presupuesto y tratar aquellos asuntos relacionados con la política que le haya remitido el Comité Central.
