The World Council of Churches (WCC) will celebrate its 75th anniversary in multiple ways, starting in June and ending in December 2023, with a focus on promoting understanding and cooperation among Christians worldwide.

World Council of Churches (WCC) general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay, in his report to the WCC executive committee, focused on strengthening the global fellowship by mapping a strategic plan that is grounded in unity and hope.



 

As the World Council of Churches (WCC) executive committee meeting opened on 22 May,  WCC central committee moderator Bishop Dr Heinrich Bedford-Strohm offered remarks focusing on what the church can do for a world facing multiple crises. 

As the leaders of the World Communion of Reformed Churches convened, World Council of Churches general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay extended warm greetings and prayers that God will guide and accompany them in their deliberations.

World Council of Churches central committee moderator Bishop Dr Heinrich Bedford-Strohm delivered a lecture at the Kitzingen deanery, a regional church district near Würzburg, for the parishes of the deanery as well as for the public. The Konfessionskundliches Institut from Germany visited the World Council of Churches (WCC), focusing on strengthening relations with the WCC and following up on the work since the WCC 11th Assembly in Karlsruhe. 

The World Council of Churches (WCC) will convene a high-level roundtable with heads of specialized ministries partners on 16 May. The leaders will advise the WCC general secretary and provide input to the strategic direction of the WCC.

Making its 20th year, the “Working Together” meeting between the World Council of Churches (WCC) and specialized ministries is convening 3-4 May.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) Permanent Committee on Consensus and Collaboration  (PCCC) convened at the Ecumenical Institute at Bossey from 27-30 April. This was the final meeting of the PCCC for this term. A new PCCC will be appointed at the next meeting of the Central Committee in June.
