La iniciativa de Pascua es una actividad anual del Programa Ecuménico de Acompañamiento en Palestina e Israel (PEAPI) del CMI que se propone conectar las narraciones de la Pascua con las realidades actuales de Palestina e Israel, poniendo de relieve las dificultades de vivir en un contexto marcado por la violencia, la guerra y la ocupación, al tiempo que alimenta la esperanza y destaca la labor de los grupos y las personas que se esfuerzan por lograr una paz justa.

Die Oster-Initiative ist eine jährliche Aktion des Ökumenischen Begleitprogramms in Palästina und Israel (EAPPI) und hat sich zum Ziel gesetzt, die Ostergeschichte zu den gegenwärtigen Lebensrealitäten in Palästina und Israel in Beziehung zu setzen und dabei die Herausforderungen eines Lebens zu beleuchten, das von Gewalt, Krieg und Besetzung geprägt ist. Gleichzeitig will diese Initiative aber auch Hoffnung geben und Gruppen und einzelne Personen vorstellen, die sich für einen gerechten Frieden einsetzen.

L’initiative de Pâques est une activité annuelle du COE-EAPPI dont l’objectif est de faire le lien entre les récits de Pâques et les expériences de vie en Palestine et en Israël. Elle révèle les difficultés vécues dans le climat de violence, de guerre et d’occupation qui prévaut tout en alimentant la flamme de l’espérance et en faisant la part belle aux groupes et personnes qui aspirent à une paix juste.

The Easter Initiative is an annual activity of the WCC-EAPPI, setting out to connect the stories of Easter with current realities in Palestine and Israel, to spotlight the challenges of a life marked by violence, war and occupation alongside nurturing hope and highlighting groups and individuals striving for a just peace.

An event entitled “Nuclear Resilience for Peace and Prosperity” will officially open a photo exhibition on 8 March at the Ecumenical Centre in Geneva. Co-hosted by the World Council of Churches (WCC) and the Permanent Mission of the Marshall Islands in Geneva.

The World Social Forum (WSF) 2024 is scheduled to take place from February 15-19 in Nepal. The WSF serves as an open space and platform for the convergence of a diverse range of participants, including social movements, laborers, farmers, civil society groups, marginalized communities, and those affected by the impacts of neoliberal capitalism and privatization. 

The tenth edition of the Symposium on the Role of Religion and Faith-based Organizations in International Affairs will take place on 23 January online, and will explore the theme “Human Rights and Dignity: Toward a Just, Peaceable, and Inclusive Future.” 

A webinar on 4 December will focus on “Decolonizing beauty: mission, gender, racism, and health in the skin-whitening pandemic.”

The World Council of Churches will host the screening of a 10-minute movie “Our Land of Olives and Vines,” featuring Al Makhrour in Beit Jala, the last green area—rich in olive trees, fruits, and apricots—left in Bethlehem, and very connected to the heritage and future of Palestinian Christians.

A global ecumenical prayer on 18 September will commemorate the World Week for Peace in Palestine and Israel, being observed this year from 16-23 September. The World Council of Churches (WCC) is inviting online or in-person participation for people to pray, advocate, and stand in solidarity with people in the Holy Land.

On 13 August, a global prayer for peace and reconciliation on the Korean Peninsula will unite voices seeking to build bridges between North and South Korea.

The launch of the document “Building Interreligious Solidarity in Our Wounded World. The Way of Common Formation” will take place on 28 July, during the Interreligious Studies course at the Ecumenical Institute at Bossey, and will be livestreamed on the YouTube channel of the World Council of Churches (WCC).
