WCC condemns assault at German Christmas market

Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay, general secretary of the World Council of Churches (WCC), and Bishop Dr Heinrich Bedford-Strohm, WCC moderator, have strongly condemned the act of violence perpetrated against people visiting a Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany, on 20 December.

Evangelical Mission in Solidarity on journey together with WCC

On 14 November, Rev. Anne Heitmann was elected chair of the Presidium of Evangelical Mission in Solidarity (EMS). Side event in Bonn highlights intersectional climate impacts

The World Council of Churches (WCC), in collaboration with the Brahma Kumaris, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Lutheran World Federation, and ACT Church of Sweden, co-organized a side event, ”Addressing the Intersectional Impacts of Climate Change; Bridging Gender Gaps in Climate: Faith Perspectives,” at the Climate Change Conference 2024 in Bonn. The event focused on gender justice and strategies to bridge gender gaps in climate change.

WCC hosts visitors from Finland, Germany, and Sweden

The World Council of Churches (WCC) hosted Bishop Dr Jukka Keskitalo and Rev. Pekka Mustakallio from the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland, to discuss the ecumenical agenda of 2023 and the harvesting of the WCC 11 th assembly, as well a group from the Centre for Ecumenism of the Protestant Church in Hesse and Nassau, and 21 ordinands from the Church of Sweden.
