WCC makes pilgrimage to Cape Coast and Elmina castles in Ghana

The World Council of Churches (WCC) Reference Group on Overcoming Racism, Xenophobia, Casteism, and all other forms of Discrimination, went on a pilgrimage to historic castles in Elmina and Cape Coast, in Ghana—a visit that exposed the magnitude of sinful injustice perpetuated by European empires and kingdoms on Africans for centuries and whose legacies continue to afflict Africans and people of African Descent around the world. 

WCC commissioner leads call for faith-led environmental action at Ghana event

Kevin Maina, member of the World Council of Churches (WCC) Commission for Climate Justice and Sustainable Development, delivered a keynote address at the launch of the Environmental Integrity Project, organized by the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, GA Presbytery. Invited by the Executive Council of the Young People’s Guild, Maina’s participation underscored the vital role of faith communities in addressing pressing environmental challenges.

Pandemic and pedagogy: what are the valuable lessons?

The conference was co-organized by the World Council of Churches (WCC), World Communion of Reformed Churches, Lutheran World Federation, and Evangelische Mission Weltweit. The conference drew more than 80 participants from all over the world.

Entitled “From Lamentation to Transformation,” the event, first in a series of webinars on COVID-19 perspectives, highlighted hope through stories, practical support, and social change as experienced by persons with disabilities.

EKD delegation, other visitors grace WCC

A delegation from the Evangelical Church in Germany is visiting the WCC on 26-27 October for an ecumenical learning experience that includes prayers with students from the Bossey Ecumenical Institute, an introduction and overview of the work of the WCC, a meeting with the Lutheran World Federation, and a guided tour of the Ecumenical Centre.
