The World Council of Churches (WCC) has released a seminar report entitled Indigenous Spiritualities, Land Rights, and Climate Justice. Edited by Lori Ransom, WCC indigenous peoples consultant, the report serves as a platform for the clear, urgent, and much-needed voices of Indigenous peoples to expose the climate catastrophe through which we are living.

World Council of Churches moderator Bishop Dr Heinrich Bedford-Strohm addressed the Churches’ Commission for Migrants in Europe on 2 December, during a conference in Frankfurt commemorating the 60th anniversary of the commission.

Cohosted by the World Council of Churches (WCC), Methodist Church of New Zealand, and Te Runanga Whakawhanaunga i ngā Hāhi, the gathering included personal sharing, exposure visits, case studies, and reflection. 

The World Council of Churches (WCC) Ecumenical Indigenous Peoples Network Reference Group is convening for the first time in-person at the WCC Ecumenical Institute at Bossey from 12-13 October to plan the work ahead.  The main objectives will be to build community and begin to shape plans and priorities. 

An Africa-Europe Ecumenical Roundtable will convene on 24-25 October in Berlin.

During a keynote lecture on 10 September at the European Christian Internet Conference in Geneva, Hovig Etyemezian, head of Innovation Service at the UN Refugee Agency, shared ways that artificial intelligence can be harnessed for good. 

Speaking during the International Mission Partnership Consultation in Finland on 27 August, World Council of Churches general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay reflected on “Church in changing landscapes: God’s Mission and Our Own.”

The latest issue of the World Council of Churches (WCC) journal International Review of Mission focuses on “Decolonial Discipleship,” and the struggle of the ecumenical movement to redeem mission from its colonial possession and to dismantle the mission ideologies that have justified this. 

Amidst African drum beats, lively singing, and dances, Christians in Kenya welcomed in church services, participants of the World Council of Churches Commission on World Mission and Evangelism.
