Easter messages from Ukraine: “pray for us, stay with us”

People in Ukraine observed their fourth Easter since the Russian invasion of their nation. Oleksandra Kovalenko, a member of the Ukrainian delegation at the WCC 11th Assembly in Karlsruhe, and Valentyn Hrebennyk, a graduate of the WCC Ecumenical Institute at Bossey shares their Easter experience and encourages the WCC fellowship to continue praying for people of Ukraine.

Joint statement on attack on Port Sudan appeals for immediate cease of hostilities

In a joint statement, the World Council of Churches, All Africa Conference of Churches, Fellowship of Christian Councils and Churches in the Great Lakes and Horn of Africa, and ACT Alliance expressed deep concern and strong condemnation of the violent escalation of hostilities in Sudan, specifically the recent attacks on the city of Port Sudan by the Rapid Support Forces.

WCC expresses outrage over Salha massacre in Omdurman

World Council of Churches general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay expressed shock and outrage over the horrific massacre committed in Salha, Omdurman, on 27 April. Reports received from the area describe mass executions of unarmed civilians, arbitrary arrests under the so-called "Strange Faces Law," and the appalling treatment of human remains, with bodies piled among car tires.

Journalist turned envoy reveals motivation behind documentary on Holy Land Christians

Ambassador Amira Hanania, a Palestinian diplomat and media veteran, serves as the representative of the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Europe. A Christian from Bethlehem, she has dedicated her career to journalism and diplomacy. Recently, she completed a documentary titled Via Dolorosa: The Path of Sorrows,” which sheds light on the history of Christians in Palestine and the challenges they face.
