As church leaders and organizations rally against Christian persecution in Sudan, a bishop has become the latest victim of the violence, in the country where war has destroyed church missions, schools, hospitals, and Christian villages.

In a statement, the World Council of Churches (WCC) Executive Committee denounced the continued fighting in Sudan, and urged solidarity and assistance to the people and churches.
