Armenian Heritage Conference urges coordinated action: protect "living expression of faith, identity, and memory”

An Armenian Heritage Conference has closed with a statement urging coordinated international action to protect Armenian religious and cultural heritage, the human rights of its people, and the future security of the Armenian nation. The conference was hosted by World Council of Churches (WCC) in collaboration with Protestant Church in Switzerland, in Bern, Switzerland on 27-28 May. 

WCC executive committee to convene with vision for future

The World Council of Churches (WCC) executive committee will convene 12-16 May via video conference to conduct the regular business of the first half of the year. The executive committee will also review preparations for the WCC central committee meeting, which will convene 18-24 June in Johannesburg, South Africa. 

WCC “Faith and Order Update” available

A "Faith and Order Update," presenting some of the main areas of the work of the World Council of Churches (WCC) Commission on Faith and Order, has been published as the WCC looks towards the  Sixth World Conference on Faith and Order later in 2025, and in the year that marks the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea.

WCC communications in 2024: expanding messages of unity across the world

Communication from the World Council of Churches (WCC) in 2024, through storytelling via many channels, fostered unity in unprecedented ways across the world. From the largest global prayer gathering, to 2.3 million engagements on social media, to large numbers of young visitors both in-person and online, WCC communications connected with more people, in more ways than ever.

An encouraging encounter

I had the privilege of being part of a delegation from the Old Catholic Churches of the Union of Utrecht welcoming a delegation from the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church to celebrate the Thiruvalla Agreement declaring our church communion reached in February 2024 after both churches had received the results of eight years of dialogue.
