On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Commission of the Churches on International Affairs (CCIA), the webinar will be an opportunity for former and current CCIA women Commissioners to be in dialogue with former and present CCIA Moderators.

An upcoming webinar, part of the ongoing “Remembering Past Massacres” series, will focus on Latin America, with speakers reflecting on the atrocities committed against Indigenous populations in the name of Christianisation, the trans-Atlantic slave trade, the ruthless military dictatorships in South America during the 1960s-80s, and the 1937 massacre of Haitians in the Dominican Republic.

This webinar takes place following the annual World Week for Peace in Palestine and Israel and forms part of a range of efforts made by the WCC and its Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel (WCC-EAPPI) to advocate for just peace in the region. The event will take place on 30 July 2021, the World Day Against Trafficking in persons. This day provides an opportunity to sound the alarm about the horrible crime of human trafficking as well as for governments, faith based organizations and other partners to reaffirm their commitment to end this gross violation of human rights.
