März setzten sich die Vortragenden mit dem Thema „KlimanotstandReaktion der Kirchen im Glauben und mit Hoffnung“ auseinander. Die Podiumsdiskussion wurde von Erzbischof Hochwürden Julio Murray Thompson moderiert, der auch der Kommission für Klimagerechtigkeit und nachhaltige Entwicklung vorsteht, von der das Podium einberufen wurde.

Three WCC commissions meet to confront emerging global challenges

WCC and partners to host seminar in Assisi on Feast of Creation

The World Council of Churches (WCC), with the Laudato Si’ Movement and other partners, will cohost a seminar in Assisi, Italy, on 15-16 March. Entitled "The Feast of Creation and the Mystery of Creation: Ecumenism, Theology, Liturgy, and Signs of the Times in Dialogue,” the event aims to deepen the collective understanding and appreciation of the Feast of Creation, observed on 1 September.

WCC to host discussion on humanitarian needs

The World Council of Churches and ACT Alliance, on 4 March, will host a 90-minute discussion on humanitarian needs. The purpose will be to hear and discuss the views of faith-based organisations on what constitutes humanitarian need” and how best to prioritize between different needs and contexts.

At the World Social Forum 2024, taking place 15-19 February in Nepal, the World Council of Churches (WCC) will have an active role in this platform for the convergence of a diverse range of participants, including social movements, laborers, farmers, civil society groups, marginalized communities, and those affected by the impacts of neoliberal capitalism and privatization. 

WCC condemns attacks against aid workers in southeast Ukraine

World Council of Churches general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay expressed shock upon receiving the news of the deaths of two aid workers in an attack that injured three others, all from the non-governmental organization HEKS/EPER, on 1 February in southern Ukraine.
