The World Council of Churches (WCC) has commemorated its 75th anniversary with an ecumenical celebration at Saint Pierre Cathedral in Geneva, recalling the founding of the WCC in Amsterdam in August 1948, three years after the end of the Second World War.

Church leaders from Canada, the Holy Land, and South Africa have addressed the central committee of the World Council of Churches (WCC) in Geneva on reconciliation, explaining that the process involving communities is not easy and needs hard work and responsibility.

Juni um 10:00 Uhr mit einem Sonntagsgottesdienst in der Kathedrale St. Peter und einer besonderen Feier im Ökumenischen Zentrum um 14:00 Uhr. The WCC central committee will also celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Council in multiple ways, starting 25 June with the Sunday Worship in St Pierre Cathedral at 10:00, and with a special celebration in the Ecumenical Centre at 14:00, where participants will have the chance to revisit WCC’s 75 years of history through the testimonies of people who have been engaged in many areas of its work and hear from younger generations about perspectives for the future.
