Leadership of the central committee of the World Council of Churches, on behalf of the entire fellowship and the staff of the Council, extend the most sincere condolences to His All Holiness Bartholomew Ecumenical Patriarch and to the Ecumenical Patriarchate on the passing of Metropolitan Gennadios of Sassima.
The WCC governing body on 14 February received “A New Communications Paper for the 21st Century: A vision of digital justice,” a text created in preparation for the WCC’s 11th Assembly later in 2022 that takes into account the results of a symposium on “Communication for Social Justice in a Digital Age” held in September 2021.

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity in 2021 was prepared by the Monastic Community of Grandchamp. The theme that was chosen, “Abide in my love and you shall bear much fruit”, is based on John 15:1-17 and expresses Grandchamp Community’s vocation to prayer, reconciliation and unity in the church and the human family.
The Stewards Programme brings together a dynamic and diverse group of young people from all over the world from 12th to 25th March 2020 (inclusive of travel dates). At the Central Committee meeting, the Programme will host 20 young people from different backgrounds, churches and regions.

Hosted by the China Christian Council, the commission met to discuss and make decisions about the results of the work of its three study groups on ecclesiology, moral discernment and the pilgrimage of justice and peace. The venue of the meeting raised awareness on important ecclesiological issues in the hosting country.
