Une délégation du COE en visite en Ukraine au milieu des conflits

Le Conseil œcuménique des Églises (COE) a exprimé la solidarité de la communauté fraternelle mondiale avec le peuple ukrainien lors de ses rencontres avec des Églises et des institutions publiques, dans le cadre d’une visite en Ukraine qui s’est déroulée du 1ʳ au 5 août.

During the recent solidarity visit in Ukraine, a World Council of Churches (WCC) delegation has met with various state institutions working with religious issues, listening and learning from the victims of the ongoing war and asking for support in giving permission to the members of the delegation of Ukrainian Churches to leave the country and attend the WCC 11th Assembly in Karlsruhe.

Déplorant la guerre illégale et injustifiable «infligée au peuple et à l’État souverain d’Ukraine», le Comité central du COE s’est lamenté du «bilan effroyable qui va en s’aggravant: la mort, la destruction et le déplacement des populations; la destruction des relations et un antagonisme de plus en plus profond entre les peuples de la région; les confrontations qui s’enveniment à travers le monde; le risque accru de famine dans les régions du monde touchées par l’insécurité alimentaire; ainsi que les difficultés économiques et l’exacerbation de l’instabilité sociale et politique dans de nombreux pays».

Deploring the illegal and unjustifiable war inflicted on the people and sovereign state of Ukraine” the World Council of Churches (WCC) central committee lamented the awful and continuing toll of deaths, destruction and displacement, of destroyed relationships and ever more deeply entrenched antagonism between the people of the region, of escalating confrontation globally, of increased famine risk in food insecure regions of the world, of economic hardship and heightened social and political instability in many countries.”

Le Conseil œcuménique des Églises (COE) a, depuis le premier jour de la guerre en Ukraine et même dans les mois précédents, travaillé et prié sincèrement pour une solution pacifique au conflit et dans le monde entier. Dès le début, le COE a appelé à la fin immédiate des hostilités armées, à l'arrêt de la guerre et a également lancé un appel pour que cessent immédiatement les attaques aveugles et leurs répercussions sur les civils en Ukraine. The World Council of Churches (WCC) has, since the first day of the war in Ukraine and even in the months before, been working and praying earnestly for peace in this conflict and throughout the world. From the beginning, the WCC has called for an immediate end to armed hostilities, to stop the war and has appealed also for an immediate end to indiscriminate attacks with an escalating impact on civilians in Ukraine.
