A delegation from the World Council of Churches (WCC) is visiting Ukraine on 10-12 May to renew relations with churches and religious organizations and to explore possibilities of joint efforts to achieve just peace in Ukraine.

In New York City, unity prayers focus on how we “can join hands and minds and do the work that God has called us to do”

Christians in New York City opened the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity on 18 January by participating in a worship service at the Interchurch Center, an office building that houses many church-related organizations and many others focused on intercultural and religious exchange. The service was infused with themes of justice and unity, both from a perspective of African-American history and the urging of Christians today to put their faith into action.

In letters to Colombian president and peace commissioner, WCC offers solidarity and support to peacebuilding process

The World Council of Churches (WCC), in letters to Colombian president Gustavo Petro and to Colombian peace commissioner Danilo Rueda, expressed the WCCs support and solidarity for peace-building in Colombia—and confirmed the WCCs representation in the dialogue process between the Colombian government and the National Liberation Army (ELN) in response to an earlier invitation.

Осуждая незаконную и неоправданную войну, «навязанную народу и суверенному государству Украины», Центральный комитет Всемирного совета церквей (ВСЦ) выразил сожаление по поводу «ужасающего и возрастающего числа жертв, разрушений и перемещений, разорванных отношений и еще более глубоко укоренившейся враждебности между народами этого региона, усиления конфронтации  глобального масштаба, повышенного риска голода в регионах с низким уровнем продовольственной безопасности, экономических трудностей, а также повышенной социальной и политической нестабильности во многих странах».

Deploring the illegal and unjustifiable war inflicted on the people and sovereign state of Ukraine” the World Council of Churches (WCC) central committee lamented the awful and continuing toll of deaths, destruction and displacement, of destroyed relationships and ever more deeply entrenched antagonism between the people of the region, of escalating confrontation globally, of increased famine risk in food insecure regions of the world, of economic hardship and heightened social and political instability in many countries.”

Colombian delegation calls upon international community to revive “vital support”

As a group of three laureates of the “National Human Rights Award in Colombia” engaged in meetings with diplomats and United Nations representatives in Geneva, a tray lunch event was organized on 8 June at the Ecumenical Centre by the World Council of Churches and ACT Alliance to offer the delegation the opportunity to share about the deterioration of the peace process in the country and the importance of international solidarity.

They spoke of the deterioration of the peace process in the country and the importance of international solidarity.
