May this sacred day, which falls on the full moon of May, also known as the flower moon, and which commemorates the miraculous birth, enlightenment and passing of the Buddha, inspire and uplift you all. As nature reaches its peak of beauty and vitality, may this celebration remind us of the potential for spiritual renewal and the flowering of compassion in our lives. The life of the Buddha, together with his profound teachings, illuminates the path to liberation from desire and suffering, and guides towards wisdom, compassion and inner peace.
As you reflect on the meaning of the Buddha's journey, may his teachings of karuna, compassion, the middle way and universal kindness resonate profoundly in your hearts and shape your actions with purpose and grace.
Guided by the teachings of Jesus Christ, who calls us to love one another and to work tirelessly for reconciliation, forgiveness, mercy, simplicity and renewal of life in Christ, we, as Christians, extend a hand of friendship to our Buddhist brothers and sisters.
Let us walk together, Christians and Buddhists, awakening in humanity the strength to embrace one another with open hearts. May our shared love and compassion uplift those who suffer and bring hope where it is most needed.
I wish you a blessed and meaningful Vesak, filled with spiritual light, peace and moments of profound serenity.
