Dear Loving Lord, Creator of all, you created us all in your own image, one image - many colours, one image - many cultures. You made us come together like a rainbow, separate parts but coming together in one creation. Help us to see the beauty you have created in each and every one of us. Dear Loving Lord, we are your creation, hear the cries of your people. You gave us ears to hear and eyes to see, open our eyes to what you want us to see, help us always to look to you to see the wisdom of your way

Prayer

Dear Loving Lord, Creator of all,

you created us all in your own image,

one image - many colours, one image - many cultures.

You made us come together like a rainbow,

separate parts but coming together in one creation.

Help us to see the beauty you have created in each and every one of us.

Dear Loving Lord, we are your creation, hear the cries of your people.

You gave us ears to hear and eyes to see, open our eyes to what you want us to see, help us always to look to you to see the wisdom of your ways.

Dear Loving Lord, Creator of all, you gave us hearts to love and minds to reason. Help us to understand our differences and grow in love for each other.

Help us to come together as the rainbow comes together,

many colours, shining as one creation over all the earth,

as you intended us to be.

In the name of your dear Son, Jesus Christ.

Amen

(Pilgrim Prayer, 199)

E toru nga mea

Responsive Psalm 78: 1 – 8

Give ear, O my people, to my teaching;

    incline your ears to the words of my mouth.

I will open my mouth in a parable;

    I will utter dark sayings from of old,

things that we have heard and known,

    that our ancestors have told us.

We will not hide them from their children;

    we will tell to the coming generation

the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might,

    and the wonders that he has done.

He established a decree in Jacob,

    and appointed a law in Israel,

which he commanded our ancestors

    to teach to their children;

that the next generation might know them,

    the children yet unborn,

and rise up and tell them to their children,

so that they should set their hope in God,

and not forget the works of God,

    but keep his commandments;

and that they should not be like their ancestors,

    a stubborn and rebellious generation,

a generation whose heart was not steadfast,

    whose spirit was not faithful to God.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit;

As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end, Amen.

Scripture Reading: Jeremiah 31: 31 – 34

The Word of the Lord.

Thanks be to God.

Reflection Question: As we continue to discern the mind of God in these pandemic times, how might this time also be a moment for us to renew our pilgrimage covenant with God?

Prayer of Intercession

Holy One, may your Realm of Love come for the insignificant, unremarkable, overlooked people of the world.

May your kingdom come.

Come Lord, for the un-noticed and simply ordinary people; back-water sort of people who will never make much impact.

May your kingdom come.

Holy One, may your Realm of Love come for those who are lost; who have disappeared or are missing.

May your kingdom come.

Come Lord, for the up-rooted, exiled and enslaved; lost-rights sort of people who will seldom be seen or heard.

May your kingdom come.

Holy One, may your Realm of Love come for the fearful, the terrorised and the abused people of the world.

May your kingdom come.

Come Lord, for those who are unjustly imprisoned or entrapped; voiceless people who will hardly dare to seek help.

May your kingdom come.

Holy One, may your Realm of Love come for the subjugated, silenced and subdued people of the world.

May your kingdom come.

Come Lord, for the lonely, the lacking, the faded, the frightened; shadowy people unable to bring attention to their suffering.

May your kingdom come.

Holy One, may your Realm of Love come for the handicapped and disabled people of the world.

May your kingdom come.

Come Lord, for the redundant and poorly educated; the timid and un-appreciated; struggling people who have to strive for support and respect.

May your kingdom come.

In the dynamic of your Love, may your Realm become a reality for us all.

May your kingdom come.

(Pilgrim Prayer, 201 - 202)

Our hope is affirmed as we pray together, each in our own language:

Our Father…

Benediction

Go in peace as those who tread a common way with the Christ;

and may each stone on the road be firm under your feet as God who is our rock,

the winds of the earth wrap you round with the breath of the Spirit.

Amen.
