Dears sisters and brothers of the United Evangelical Lutheran Church,

It was with great sadness that we received the news of the passing of Rev. Fabian Kreischer on 7 February in San Miguel.

Rev. Kreischer’s ministry was always marked by a strong commitment to justice and service to the ones that most needed it. His sudden passing leaves a large gap in the church and causes great sadness to all who have had the privilege to meet him.

On behalf of our fellowship of churches, I want to convey my condolences to the United Evangelical Lutheran Church. May the God of life uphold and support you in this difficult moment. I extend my sympathy most especially to Rev. Kreisher’s family who mourn and pray for peace and comfort at this difficult time. We hope and pray that the circumstances of his brutal assassination are fully investigated and justice will be made.

We say with the Apostle Paul, Romans 14:7-8: “We do not live to ourselves, and we do not die to ourselves. If we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord; so then, whether we live or we die, we are the Lord’s.”

Your brothers and sisters in Christ join you in thanking God for the life and witness of Rev. Kreischer and his contribution to church and society. May he rest in peace, may his memory be eternal and may his prophetic passion for the love of Christ live and reign in our hearts now and forever.

Yours in Christ,

Rev. Prof. Dr Ioan Sauca
