Ecumenical greetings from the World Council of Churches!

It is with great joy that we received the news of the 50-year existence of the Fiangonan'i Jesoa Kristy eto Madagasikara (FJKM), also known as the Church of Jesus Christ in Madagascar. 2018 is also a special year because it marks the 200th anniversary of the arrival of the first Protestant missionaries sent by the London Missionary Society (LMS) in Madagascar in 1818.

The worldwide fellowship of WCC member churches joins me in wishing you and your church members a blessed and vibrant thanksgiving worship and celebration marking the Jubilee of your Church as well as two centuries of LMS settlement.

We are honoured that Pastora Dr Rakoto Endor Modeste, WCC Central Committee member, will be representing the ecumenical family during the special thanksgiving worship service.

2018 is a special year for the World Council of Churches as well, because we are marking throughout the year the 70th anniversary of our inception. We therefore also invite you to pray and celebrate with us during the special thanksgiving worship service. Long live to the ecumenical family and all its member churches!

I assure you of the eagerness of the World Council of Churches to continue engaging with the FJKM, and look forward to contributions from the FJKM to the ecumenical movement.

I wish you, on behalf of the ecumenical family, prayerful good wishes. Please be assured of our continued prayers.

With every good wish for God’s blessings, and with our prayers.

Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit
General Secretary of the World Council of Churches
