Rev. Ashim Baroi

General Secretary

Bangladesh Baptist Church Sangha

Geneva, Octobe 27, 2022

Dear Rev. Baroi,

I write to you with warm greetings from the World Council of Churches. Thank you for your kind invitation to participate as a speaker in your celebration of 225 years of the Baptist church in your region. I understand that over 2,000 participants from all over Bangladesh, from 385 churches, along with your partners will assemble together in Barishal on 24-27 November to mark this historical milestone.

Our global fellowship sincerely congratulates you on this special occasion. You are a vibrant member church of the WCC, and we share your joy, gratitude and thanksgiving in this time of celebration for being one of the oldest churches in the region.

The theme of your celebration is a relevant one, inspired from the biblical passage Revelation 2:25, “ ….to hold on to what you have until I come.” From the pioneering work of missionary William Carey in your region, your church has continued to show creativity and compassion all these years. Your gathering will only strengthen the relevance of “being church” during the changing context of today, and inspire future generations of the church. To this end, my prayers and good wishes are with you.

We pray for God’s blessings upon your church for many more years to come.

Yours in His service,

Rev. Prof. Dr Ioan Sauca

Acting General Secretary
