The gathering is expected to draw 200 guests.
“Today, the themes of justice, of peace, of integrity of creation have never been more urgent and indeed are matters of life and death,” Pillay says. “This means amplifying and deepening our efforts for developing a more equitable and sustainable financial and economic order, for promoting the things that make for peace and for building bridges between peoples and nations, and for striving towards radical cooperation and unity in responding to the colossal global challenges we all face and ensuring a livable planet for all.”
Pillay references the WCC 11th Assembly message “Call to Act Together” to fix broken systems, transform divisions, and heal the planet in a spirit of unity.
“With this message, I invite you to join us and to walk and work together as a fellowship of churches and as a community of faith in a Pilgrimage of Justice, Reconciliation, and Unity founded in God’s infinite and enduring love for the Earth and all its beings,” concludes Pillay
