Focusing on strategic planning for the future, discussions will build on a recent workshop hosted by WCC general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay. The staff will be able to contribute ideas to developing the WCC strategic plan 2023-2030, preparing for the central committee, and planning and budgeting for 2024.

The Staff Planning Days will also include a time of prayer and bible studies, giving staff an opportunity to spiritually reflect on the present and future.

The agenda includes different building blocks” – spiritual life, community building, thematic plenaries, team work, and skills.

Objectives including developing the WCC strategic plan 2023-2030 as a pilgrimage of justice, reconciliation, and unity. The plan is expected to strengthen regional engagements, pilgrim team visits, work with commissions, and the role of transversal issues. Staff will have an opportunity to discuss how regional realities present both challenges and opportunities.

Staff will also enhance the methodologies used to engage member churches and implement activities, as well as strengthen skills and knowledge about tools and resources supporting their work and community. A portion of the Staff Planning Days will also involve initiating planning and budgeting for 2024 and advance towards the move to the Kyoto building, part of the Green Village.
