"Your leadership, locally and regionally, is a living example of the Christian presence and witness in the Holy Land,” said Pillay. “We appreciate very much your efforts in serving the local Christian communities and providing diaconal, educational, and spiritual support in these very difficult and challenging times.”
Pillay also expressed gratitude for Archbishop Naoum’s guidance and contributions to all WCC initiatives and programs in Palestine and Israel.
“As you take up your new responsibilities, we pray for God’s blessings to Your Eminence’s work in Jerusalem and the Middle East,” Pillay concluded. “As a worldwide fellowship of churches, we commit to support and accompany you in your mission. May our Lord grant you his grace and power on your journey for just peace in this region.”
