The meeting was headed by Sheikh Mahmoud Al Habash, Ambassador Kassissieh from the Palestinian side, and Cardinal Francisco Coccopalmerio, Monsignor Khaled Akasha, and Archbishop William Shomali from the Vatican side, and saw other dignitaries from the Holy Land and the Vatican present papers on a variety of topics.
The World Council of Churches (WCC) was represented through its Jerusalem Liaison Office coordinator Yusef Daher who gave a presentation on "Unity resurrects in tragedy: Shireen Abu Akleh funeral” on invitation by ambassador of Palestine Issa Kassissieh to the Holy See. The presentation helped convene dialogue on local church positions on Jerusalem and updated the group on recent developments.
During the two-day meeting, the working group also had a private audience with His Holiness Pope Francis.
