Because of the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic and guidance from the Pacific Conference of Churches (PCC), the decision was taken to postpone the Ecumenical Continuing Formation on Youth Transformative Masculinity and Femininity in the Pacific again to the second half of 2021, and change the location to Fiji.

“The ongoing impact of COVID-19 has prevented us from implementing this event this year. Together with other programme areas of WCC, the Just Community of Women and Men; and the Indigenous People’s Network, and the PCC we continue to hope that we will be able to hold an in-person meeting around this time next year for young people in the region to address the theme,” said Joy-Eva Bohol, WCC programme executive for Youth Engagement.

The Ecumenical Continuing Formation on Youth is an annual activity under the youth engagement in the ecumenical movement. This event is planned and organized in collaboration with the PCC, and will be implemented as a joint event with PCC’s first regional ecumenical youth gathering in 2021.

“Facilitating a space with Pacific and indigenous youth affords an opportunity for solidarity and accompaniment on the key issues identified by the region—that also resonates among young people across the globe,” said Bohol
