During the NCCK conference, Pillay will deliver a keynote address on 20 September titled "NCCK's Centennial—40 Years of the Tozanso Process: Global Ecumenical Solidarity for Reconciliation and Peace in Korea.”
The Tozanso process is a pivotal legacy of the international ecumenical movement toward peace on the Korean Peninsula and churches across the world.
The theme of the NCCK centennial is "God of Life, Renew All Creation in Your Love.”
The conference will be held at the Graduate School of Theology, Hanshin University.
In addition to Pillay, WCC director of the Commission of the Churches on International Affairs will also speak during a panel presentation, “The Role of the Global Ecumenical Community for A Permanent Peace Regime of the Korean Peninsula,” on 21 September, moderated by Rev. Dr Bae Hyun Ju, vice moderator of the WCC Commission on Climate Justice and Sustainable Development.
Prove will speak about seeking new paths forward for peace and reconciliation on the Korean Peninsula, and how the WCC and all members of the ecumenical fellowship will – as in the past – continue to look to the National Council of Churches in Korea for inspiration and for leadership.
