An independent expert panel has been appointed to review current UNAIDS policies and processes for addressing and preventing harassment. Among the members is Dr Fulata Moyo, former World Council of Churches (WCC) programme executive for a Just Community of Women and Men.

“Following the call by the Executive Director of UNAIDS, Michel Sidibé, for an external high-level independent panel to provide recommendations to UNAIDS to further strengthen implementation of its zero tolerance policy on sexual harassment, the UNAIDS Programme Coordinating Board agreed to create an Independent Expert Panel,” says UNAIDS in a press release on 20 July.

“Seeing Fulata Moyo listed as a member of this panel for UNAIDS is a recognition of the WCC’s long-standing work for just and peaceful communities, and in particular a just community of women and men,” reflected Dr Isabel Apawo Phiri, acting general secretary of the WCC.
