“This sacred occasion marks not only a significant milestone in your ministry, but also a moment of thanksgiving and hope for the wider Lutheran communion in India and the global ecumenical fellowship,” wrote Pillay. “Your ministry has been marked by a deep commitment to Christian unity, interfaith engagement, responsible stewardship, and a compassionate concern for those whose voices often go unheard.”

Pillay commended Peter’s leadership in the United Evangelical Lutheran Churches in India, Lutheran World Federation National Committee in India, National Council of Churches in India, and World Council of Churches.

“As you assume this new responsibility, we pray that the Holy Spirit will guide and sustain you,” wrote Pillay. “May you be strengthened to shepherd God’s people with faithfulness, courage, and love.”

Pillay also gave thanks for Peter’s family for their love and support. “We pray for God’s continued blessings upon them as they share in this new chapter of service,” Pillay concluded.
