“It is our prayer that, under your leadership, EMW will continue to deepen its witness, fostering communion among churches and inspiring renewed commitment to God’s transforming mission, as no church can find all answers alone – global exchange is essential,” wrote Pillay. “At the World Council of Churches, we are grateful for our enduring partnership with EMW.”
Pillay further noted that the World Council of Churches and EMW share in a common calling to discipleship that is both faithful and transformative. “May we continue to walk together in unity of spirit, discerning God’s will and responding with courage and hope,” he wrote. “We also commend EMW’s steadfast commitment to care for creation, the pursuit of social justice, interreligious encounter, and the work of peace.”
These are not merely programmatic priorities, but a witness to God’s reconciling love for all creation, continued Pillay. “As you take up this new responsibility, may the Holy Spirit grant you wisdom, discernment, and strength,” he wrote. "May your leadership be marked by compassion, guided by truth, and sustained by prayer.”
