The consecration service occurred 26 January.
“Your election, enthronement, and consecration as Patriarch mark a new chapter of hope, faith, and service for the Eritrean Orthodox Tewahedo Church,” said Pillay. "May God’s abundant grace strengthen you as you carry out the responsibilities of this holy office, guiding the church with wisdom, humility, and love.”
The World Council of Churches treasures its partnership with the Eritrean Orthodox Tewahedo Church, Pillay emphasized.
“Together, we will continue to work for the unity of the Body of Christ and the advancement of peace, justice, and human dignity in our world,” Pillay said. “May the Holy Spirit fill your ministry with divine blessings, and may your leadership inspire the faithful to grow in faith and service to God and humanity. Please be assured of my prayers and those of the entire ecumenical fellowship as you embark on this sacred journey of leadership and service to the church.”
