Your election, following a prayerful and discerning process at the 45th General Council, is a moment of great joy and hope,” wrote Pillay. From your beginnings of your years of service in pastoral ministry – from Alberta to Ontario – you have consistently embodied a deep commitment to Christ and to the communities you serve.”

Pillay reflected that Heaths leadership within the church reflects a calling rooted in both pastoral care and visionary courage.

In a world that often separates rather than unites, your vision of inclusive, intergenerational, and intercultural community is a prophetic gift,” Pillay wrote. Your ministry resonates deeply with the ecumenical call that lies at the heart of the World Council of Churches’ mission – to foster unity among Christians and to work together for justice, peace, and the integrity of creation.”

Pillay added that Heaths  leadership will not only strengthen bonds within the United Church of Canada but also deepen the shared witness with churches around the world.

Please know that you carry with you our prayers, our gratitude, and our willingness to walk alongside you in the work ahead," Pillay concluded. May God grant you wisdom, resilience, and joy in this sacred calling. And may the Spirits wind always fill your sail as you guide your church forward.”
