On July 2023, the World Council of Churches, the Muslim Council of Elders, and Rose Castle Foundation hosted the Emerging Peacemakers Forum, with 50 young men and women working in civil society and international organizations, at the Ecumenical Institute at Bossey, near Geneva, Switzerland.

The Muslim Council of Elders was founded at a time when extremist religious discourse and the misuse of religion for geopolitical agendas posed significant challenges to humanity,” Pillay wrote in a congratulatory letter. Together with our brothers and sisters from the Muslim Council of Elders, we have ventured forward on the journey of peace and justice.”

Pillay commended shared initiatives and collaborations that have strengthened bonds and showcased a united stance against violence and division.

As we celebrate this significant anniversary, we reflect on the journey we have undertaken together.,” wrote Pillay. Looking ahead, we are confident that the Muslim Council of Elders will continue to be the significant advocate for dialogue and understanding that it has become.”

Pillay pledged continued collaboration with the Muslim Council of Elders in promoting religion as a vector of hope, love, and harmony.
