"Together with the Pillay family and everyone gathered at Linden Presbyterian Church, we give thanks to God for the life and witness of Annapurani Pillay,” reads a letter from Bishop Prof. Dr Heinrich Bedford-Strohm, moderator of the WCC central committee; Rev. Merlyn Hyde Riley, vice moderator of the WCC central committee; and Archbishop Dr Vicken Aykazian, vice moderator of the WCC central committee.
“In times of great sorrow, our common faith in the Resurrected Lord offers comfort through the assurance of God’s eternal love for all creation,” reads the letter. “Nothing can separate us from this love.”
The letter continues: “With the promise of goodness and mercy, in life and in death, our hope is for eternal repose in the house of the Lord. May her testimony of faith and her love continue to inspire and uplift all who were blessed to know her.”
The funeral will take place on 14 May at the Linden Presbyterian Church in Johannesburg.
