“On behalf of the World Council of Churches, I would like to offer my heartfelt condolences to grieving families and express solidarity with communities affected by this calamity – many of them already struggling with day-to-day living due to the current challenging context,” said Sauca.
Sauca supported a call from the Council of Churches of Cuba for increasing humanitarian aid and direct disaster relief assistance.
“We pray that God, our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1), continue to accompany and uphold the Cuban people in this difficult time,” Sauca concluded.
