“This is a truly terrible tragedy,” wrote Sauca. “With our deepest sympathy, on behalf of the World Council of Churches, I offer prayers to the people and churches in Korea as well as our heartfelt condolences to all those who have lost family members and friends in this disaster.”
The WCC also stands in solidarity with the people in South Korea, particularly those who are suffering from the trauma of the horror as they are going through a period of national mourning.
“We pray for God’s healing grace and blessings upon the efforts of the Korean government, medical officials, and churches to assist those in need,” Sauca wrote.
