The Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, as a founding member of WCC since 1948, has provided guidance and support to the ecumenical movement, both nationally and internationally.
World Council of Churches acting general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Ioan Sauca shared expressions of joy upon the consecration and enthronement of His Holiness Baselios Marthoma Mathews III.
“Your charity, wisdom and dedicated work has been an inspiration to all,” Sauca wrote in a letter. “It is our sincere prayer that in your new role, God will continue to guide and bless you to lead the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, to be a lamp on the lampstand, to shine light and give hope in the household of God.”
