Pillay also expressed a sense of solidarity on behalf of the global fellowship. “Your resilience and faith in the face of such adversity inspire us all,” he wrote. “We pray for the safety of those who have been displaced, for the comfort of those who mourn, and for the strength of those who are tirelessly working to provide relief.”
Pillay assured the people and churches that they are not alone. “The global ecumenical community is walking with you, upholding you in prayer, and working alongside you to bring hope and healing,” he wrote. “May God's peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
