“Your election to this significant role marks a pivotal moment, one that promises new opportunities to deepen the collaboration between ACT Alliance and the World Council of Churches,” wrote Pillay. “We look forward to continuing to walk alongside each other as brothers in faith, seeking to respond to the needs of our world with a unified Christian witness.”
Pillay also described how he was deeply moved by the strong voices from delegates and regions during the recent ACT Alliance General Assembly. “Together, we serve not simply as another nongovernmental organization, but as a living expression of our faith in Christ,” he wrote. “It is His servant nature that calls us to exemplify His love and compassion, as we work in ecumenical diakonia toward a world that reflects justice, peace, and dignity for all of creation.”
Pillay also commended the unity of purpose between the WCC and ACT Alliance. “We look forward to welcoming you in Geneva to visit our offices at the Ecumenical Centre at your earliest convenience,” he wrote. “Once again, congratulations to you and the newly elected Governing Board. May ACT Alliance be blessed with wisdom and strength as it moves forward. Together, let us continue to build a partnership grounded in faith and a shared mission to serve the world.”
