“We express our heartfelt condolences to all those affected by this extremist violence,” said Sauca, after three deadly attacks in one week killed 11 Israelis. It is the worst wave of terrorist attacks Israel has seen in at least six years.
Within one week, there have been three attacks – in Be’er Sheva, Hadera and Bnei Brak – in which, in addition to those killed, dozens more were wounded.
“We stand with our partners in the Jewish community in condemning these attacks," said Sauca. "We all must speak out against terror and hate.”
WCC has worked for decades “to accompany and to advocate for the equal rights of all people in the Holy Land, for an end to occupation and for justice for Palestinians, and for peaceful coexistence with Israelis and harmony between Christians, Muslim and Jews”, Sauca stressed. “We deplore all such acts that threaten peace, justice and harmony in the land of Christ’s birth.”
