This will be the 6th meeting of this central committee since it was elected at the WCC 10th Assembly in Busan, Republic of Korea, in 2013. The proceedings will be undergirded by the assembly theme Christs love moves the world to reconciliation and unity.”

The agenda includes review and action on the draft unity statement for the assembly, as well as on amendments proposed by the working group on constitution and rules, and by-laws for two commissions.

The agenda also includes the election of a new general secretary in closed session as stipulated in the supplement to the rules. Two closed sessions are allocated for the process of the election.

The only standing committee to meet will be the public issues committee, which will prepare statements on situations of concern for consideration by the central committee. Confessional meetings and a womens meeting will also take place, and the central committee will observe Thursdays in Black to support a world free from rape and violence.

A memorial prayer for the late Metropolitan Gennadios will be part of the opening day.
