We rejoice with you on this important occasion, as you celebrate your 120th anniversary, and we salute your essential work, itself a fruit and vindication of your ecumenical commitment,” said Bedford-Strohm. You present an authentic and credible and relevant witness to Christian faith in France today.”

Bedford-Strohm reflected that the federation has often been an advocate for freedom of religion, a guide for the public and the nation on some of the toughest ethical and moral questions facing society, and a vital voice for the protection of human dignity in matters of life and death.

The federation also often unites with other Christians and with representatives of other religions to speak with one voice on matters of human dignity and social justice,” he said. Rooted in the gospel and Reformation convictions, and enabled through dialogue and unity, your conscientious discernment helps to form and inform the conscience of the nation.”

Bedford-Strohm also noted that the Protestant Federation of France helps to shape and strengthen the commitment of todays French youth and to inspire and encourage active solidarity and social engagement by all.

The federation also coordinates the joint ministries of the Protestant churches in chaplaincies and communications, to represent and reinforce contemporary Protestant identity, even as the landscape of Christian faith undergoes deep change,” he said. May the federation and its vital contributions continue through the next century, too!”
