Replacements for central committee members who resigned, proposed by their respective member churches, were elected. The WCC governing body also elected members of the Mid-Term Evaluation Working Group, as well as the members and co-moderators of the Assembly Planning Committee.
Co-moderators of the Assembly Planning Committee are: H.E. Metropolitan Thomas, Coptic Orthodox Church; and Miriam Weibye, Church of Scotland.
The WCC governing body also elected members and co-moderators of the Assembly Worship Planning Committee. Co-moderators are: Very Rev. Grand Archimandrite Iakovos Krochak,Ecumenical Patriarchate; and Bishop Ryscilla Shaw, Anglican Church of Canada.
Also elected were members of the Governance Review Working Group, which will review the governance structures of the WCC in relation to contextual developments and evolving needs of the fellowship.
Related to the Young People in the Ecumenical Movement Commission, the WCC central committee approved bylaw revisions that clarify roles and responsibilities, as well as provide direction for the work of the commission.
The WCC central committee elected the second executive committee, to begin in November 2026. The executive committee includes the leadership of the central committee.
